/> The British Library will be showcasing 50 Years of The Beatles, by holding a conference with Philip Norman (one of their biographers), and music writer Paul Du Noyer.</p><blockquote><p>On 16 August 1960 The Beatles set off from Liverpool  for a residency in Hamburg, having just settled upon the band name that  would become the best known in history.</p><p>With the music and  influence of the group still as powerful as ever and with some of their  lyrics and memorabilia on permanent display at the British Library, The  Beatles’ achievement is considered by one of their definitive  biographers, Philip Norman (<em>Shout!: The Beatles in  Their Generation, 1981</em> and <em>John Lennon: The Life, 2008</em>).</p><p>He  talks to music writer Paul Du Noyer (I<em>n The City: A Celebration of London Music, Liverpool: Wondrous  Place</em>); both select some of the songs that epitomise the greatness  of the band.</p></blockquote><p>The event is on Monday 16th August, between 6.30pm &#8211; 8.30pm, at The British Library&#8217;s Conference Centre.
