The Ethiopian musician, Mulatu Astatke, who is also known as the father of Ehtio-Jazz, will be coming to the Jazz Cafe on the 26th and 27th of May. Perfecting his craft in London, New York and Boston, he will be offering a show that will fuse jazz and latin music with traditional Ethiopian music.

The Brownsville duo have been making hardcore hits for over a decade and a half, and finally touch our city to put on what I believe will be a show not to be missed!

Having worked with DR Period, Kool G. Rap, DJ Premier, and Jay-Z to name a few, Billy Danze and Lil’ Fame have remained true to their unique sound. Fame (under his alias Fizzy Womack) has also taken what he has learnt from working with various producers, and has produced a significant amount of tracks on all M.O.P. releases since 1996’s Firing Squad, as well as work for other artists including Big Noyd, Teflon and Wu-Tang Clan.

Their two shows take place at Jazz Cafe, with doors opening at 7:30pm on both days. Wednesday August 25th tickets can be purchased here, and Thursday August 26th’s here.

Regarded as one of the best ever producers in hip-hop, DJ Premier has remained consistent in churning out hit after hit for decades. Starting out his career as a DJ, his knowledge of music has been a prominent attribute to his record making, and DJ sets.

He recently stopped off in London during March, playing in Matter at the o2 with a host of other DJ’s. This time it’s just him. A whole night of Preem!

Jazz Cafe have decided to use “24 Pesos”, “Marcus Bonfanti” & “Franck Ash” to help pay tribute. These artists also have been influenced by the great Muddy Waters, so they feel as though it is an honor to be asked to play some of his songs in London’s iconic Jazz Café.

This is definitely a night that any “Blues” fans would not want to miss.

In this video Muddy Waters is performing “Mannish Boy”, one of the most classic songs of all time. You may remember Nas sampling this song for his track “Bridging the Gap”.

His show in Koko was one to remember and if it was anything to go by, make sure you get yourself a ticket for his forthcoming performance at London’s Jazz Cafe this Saturday 27th of February.

“There’s always a double or triple meaning when I’m rhyming, that’s the good thing about it,” says the cerebral MC. “People can listen to something over and over and hear something different every time. That’s what writing is about. I don’t want to be simple, I don’t want to be literal.”
