The All Gone 2011 edition book is due for release and to celebrate there’s a special event lined up for it. All Gone documents the past 12 months of street culture in hardback print, publishing it on an annual basis ever since 2006. The series is curated by Michael Dupouy and his creative agency La MJC, as they archive the most sought after items from the respective year. Once the item is ‘all gone’, a certain collector value goes with. And the book’s obtained a certain collector value too, with its appropriate title.

As the book’s set to release in London, Footpatrol and Puma team up in the book launch’s proceedings. The man behind the book, Michael Dupouy, will be in-store and on hand to talk about the current street culture scene and sign limited copies of this year’s book. In the run up to the latest of the PUMA x UNDFTD Clyde series, the footwear brand will have limited deadstock product to showcase.

The book has an on point leopard print covers which reflects 2011’s hype and appreciation for animal print. It’ll be available in classic leopard print (limited to 800 copies worldwide), and grey leopard print (limited to 600 copies worldwide). Check the flyer above for full details. Following a last minute cancellation to the January 26th event due to technical difficulties at Proud 2, the Musicalize team are happy to announce a new date for Musicalize of Thursday 9th February.

Musicalize is quickly building a reputation for its quality line-ups and welcoming atmosphere as well as cemeting itself as the live music night to be at having previously showcased artists such as Ed Sheeran, Wretch32 and Ghetts. This time around, attendees will be treated to performances from MC’s Lady Leshurr, Marger, Amplify Dot and the new and exciting duo LDB.  The line-up will also feature a number of singers who are set to do big things in 2012.  Amongst these are Kaleem Taylor (recently chosen by 1Xtra as their One-to-watch‟ on their UK 1Xtra Live tour), Alex Mills (recent support act for Rizzle Kicks) who will perform a stripped back acoustic set, ex X-Factor contestant Duane Lamonte and Charlee Drew (fresh off the back of a support tour with Skepta).

As the name of the event suggests, Musicalize is the perfect opportunity to not only listen to live music, but also to socialise and network with a diverse crowd made up of fellow live music lovers and music industry professionals including A&Rs, producers, record label representatives and professional radio DJs. Media representation is also a strong feature on the night with professional media broadcasters filming as well as reporters, journalists and well respected Internet music bloggers all attending.

For the sixth year running, the awesome The Doctor’s Orders celebrate the life and work of influential hip-hop artist, James “J-Dilla” Yancey, with a ‘J-Dilla Changed My Life’ party.

A dream team of DJs, who are all spinning for free, will be joined by Detroit’s own Phat Kat — one of Dilla’s close friends and collaborators — who’ll be helping with the proceedings. The string of DJs including Mr Thing (BBE /Extended Players), Spin Doctor (The Doctor’s Orders), Harry Love (Extended Players) Morgan Spacek and DJ LoK will all be running exclusive J-Dilla related sets for free to raise as much money as possible for The J-Dilla Foundation and Lupus UK.

Attendees will be able to get their hands on t-shirts exclusively printed by Dephect clothing for the event with all proceeds from these and the door going to charity. This will be a jam packed evening and is to go down on Sunday 5th February at Scala, Kings Cross.

There’ll be a minimum donation £6 in advance or on the door. Tickets are available from Ticketweb.

The mouth watering and smokey smells of Pitt Cue have moved their ever so popular metal meat wagon on South Banks Thames Side up to the streets of Soho. The meat wagon prepared and sold some of the tastiest BBQ treats like pork briskets, ribs, chicken wings and other flame grilled meat delicacies was up for about four months and built up quite a dedicated and loyal following of BBQ loving carnivores. Now the Pitt Cue team comprised of Tony Adams and Jamie Berger are joined with Simon Anderson of Hawksmoor and The Albion’s chef Richard Turner to bring Pitt Cue to Newburgh Street, just off Carnaby Street.

Situated on the corner of Newburgh Street, it’s a pretty small venue with only thirty seats. Keep in mind that there are no reservations, running on a first-come-first-serve basis. Downstairs for seats diners, while minimal seating upstairs is focused more on drink, as they have a great bar and a number of cocktails and bourbon on offer.

A small takeaway menu’s also on offer with options of pulled pork or brisket, both of which comes in an amazing bun. Don’t get me wrong, it’s all about the meat from Pitt Cue, but sometimes it’s just all about the bun. It can really transform a burger or meal. My unsung hero, in all this is definitely the bun.

One of LA’s finest and most reputable hip-hop acts is soon to be going on a European Tour and have added a London date to their schedule!

I first came across Dilated Peoples whilst watching MTV Base, during secondary school. Their video for The Platform was a welcome variation he usual ‘bravado’ styled hip-hop videos of the time. Since then I have obviously grown, and so has the trio, with their collective resume producing a number of acclaimed LP’s, producing music videos with some of hip-hop’s finest and revered artists, and performances on worldwide stages.

Most recently, individual albums from Rakaa Iriscience (‘Crown of Thorns’, 2010), Evidence (‘Cats & Dogs’, 2011) and DJ Babu (‘The Beat Tape Vol. 2′, 2010) have been leaving fans eagerly awaiting for the 2012 release of their ‘Directors of Photography’ album.

Dilated Peoples will be performing at the O2 Academy Islington on February 27th. Tickets can be purchased from AMPG. Remember the following gems? They’re definitely back again…

I know we’ve all put on a couple of pounds over the food and drink holidays but for all who have decided to take up any wheeled activities this year like skateboarding, in-line skating or fixed gear riding, we have the place just for it.

Quick and easier access for anyone south of the river as the skate park is situated in Clapham Common Park, Rookery Road.  The skate park was built by Freestyle Skateparks who have also made Ealing skate park, Mudchute and Meanwhile 2, that’s near Royal Oak station.  The 500m2 float finish concrete floor has been built with resurfaced skateable grade Tarmacadam extending the park to approx’ 1500m2.  It’s a true street sytled skate park with no bowls and no big drops, but a nice volcano which you can jump, plus there’s a great up-down grinding ledge. It’ll be open from this weekend.

Japanese streetwear brand A Bathing Ape bring their Pirate Store back to British shores, that’s to be held at their London spot. This ten day event will be no ordinary sale, as the store will be transformed into a treasure trove of deadstock BAPE goods at heavily discounted prices. To commemorate the occasion, there’ll also be a selection of special edition ‘Pirate Store’ branded items, such as the tee below.

This event will definitely be worth checking out, as they’ll be plenty of gems to be uncovered. Who knows what you might find? The Pirate Store opens this Friday 27th January 27th, running until Sunday 5th February. Happy hunting!

Rock The Belles returns to Notting Hill Arts Club this Friday with yet another all female line-up as always, this time showcasing two of the UK’s arguably best female MCs, Shystie and No Lay.

Shystie’s one of the pioneers of the British female music game. Her explosive live shows are not to be missed and bringing her edgy and unique style back to the scene, she prepares to drop her new EP ‘Pink Mist’ that’s coming very soon!

Performing alongside Shystie on the bill is No Lay. The South London lyricist, singer and songwriter has seen support from the likes of 1Xtra, MTV, SBTV and i-D. Recently dropping her new EP ‘He Said, She Said, I Am Bad’, she’s definitely one to watch for 2012.

To complete the live bill is Sylvia Stone. She’s a Brit School graduate with a unique, arresting voice, striking self-styling and a fantastic work ethic. Her songs range from tongue-in-cheek 40’s-esque blues and jazz, to epic cinematic belters all the way to bass heavy bangers. This girl is a genre-straddling, experimental artist with killer vocals and a clear vision to tickle the back of listener’s souls.

On the night, there’s also DJs Emily Rawson, Fearney and Malenya, who’ll be on the decks spinning everything from hip-hop, dub step, house electro, garage and bass. It’s free before 9pm. Peep the flyer below for full details!

Nike’s 1948 East London spot held a private view that exhibits the work from their Make It Count campaign. On show are black and white portraits of Nike’s handpicked British athletes, as taken by top photographer Adam Hinton. Each portrait’s accompanied by various images of the sports stars making their pledge to ‘make it count’.

Attendees were able to get their portrait taken in black and white, and make their own personal pledge. Don’t feel left out in the fun, as Nike flagship stores in Oxford Circus and Westfield Stratford are also running this practice, so you can get involved too.

Adam Hinton was at hand to deliver a thoroughly interesting insight into the work he had accomplished with the athletes, having snapped them during their vigorous training regime to capture each individual’s rawness.

We caught up with Adam for a brief chat:

How did Nike approach you for this campaign?

I got approached by Guy of Wieden + Kennedy, who said, “Look, pop in. We’ve got some ideas for a campaign we want to work on and we’d like you to come in and have a chat about it.” So I did and it kind of took of from there.

Who was your favourite subject to shoot and why?

Everyone was great, but my most memorable would probably be Mo [Farah], in terms of having had to travel out to Portland and some of the meetings that took place there as well. When meeting up with him it was cloudy — we wanted it to be sunny, we got to get the right atmosphere and get him to get into that space.

It took a lot of work, but he got there which is good. You look at the shots and they’re not Mo as a person because Mo as a person is very relaxed and chilled out. But him as a professional looked great. He did 10 laps of a 400 metre track which is a 400k — a proper run. For him, that’s a stroll. It was difficult to get him to sweat, but he got into that and gave us that intensity which is good.

What do you feel you’ve gained from this experience?

It’s just been amazing to work on a campaign like this. I’ve got a sense of confidence from this which has been rewarding. Guy’s been good in letting me able to work and do the things he’s required without any interference. It’s been quite pure in terms of focussing on the people and the athletes, without having to introduce a pair of shoes or a Nike top. The fact that so much of the focus is on the athletes has been great and that’s what I like to get out.

You don’t normally photograph sports. Would you do something like this again?

I’m not a sports photographer per say, but what I’ve done is brought sports to ordinary people through. What I like about sports is the unifying nature of it – the way that it’s quite a simple thing to do that people enjoy, gets people together and gives people who haven’t got very much a sense of achievement. And

It’s simple to go out and run, it’s simple to go and play football. You do these things yourself [for next to nothing]. You go to Africa — they’re great. They make balls out of plastic bags. They just get a plastic bag, tie it in a knot and get another one and eventually it becomes a ball. They tie more plastic bags around it and that’s what they play football with. Such a simple thing to do. If you get a can, people start kicking it. You want to go running? People go running and you can just run — it’s there. Sports is a simple thing that everyone can do.

The exhibition is open to the public until February 22nd at 1948, so be sure to see it in person, be inspired and make it count.
