Rizla are launching an exciting new musical project entitled ‘Rizlab’. It’s created to allow credible, pioneering artists to freely experiment and embrace their personal passions, develop innovative music experiences, and embody the new and unexpected. Whether live or in the studio, visual or aural, solo or collaborative, the RizLab projects will offer spectacular and one-off experiences.
Heading RizLab is a duo of creative curators; two people that have spent their careers forging new musical experiences, both recorded and live. Moshi Moshi founder and renowned talent spotter Stephen Bass is working with Tom Baker, the man behind Eat Your Own Ears and London’s Field Day festival- one of the UK’s most bold and forward-thinking promoters.

The first artist to open for the Rizlab project is one of my favourite producers, Jamie xx, who’s teamed up with world-renowned visual artist Quayola, both bound to create a unique performance, this Thursday 11th August. Jamie xx will be playing a mammoth four-hour set that will première new material from his forthcoming EP. At the same time, Quayola will be performing live in real-time alongside him to create a visual feast on two huge screens in full HD.

In the meantime, hear what Rizlab’s curators have to say for the project below. Also, check out the teaser trailer of Jamie xx and Quayola’s joint performance ‘Structures’.
