The British Advertising Standards Agency have banned Yves Saint Laurent’s television advertisement for it’s new fragrance Belle D’Opium for presumingly alluding drug use and “simulating the effects of drugs on the body.”
The advert features actress Melanie Thierry dancing in a modern style influenced by the effects of the fragrance, which is supposedly the addiction. 29 seconds into the advert (which can be viewed below) the actress points to her arm whilst she is dancing, apparently this is all it took to ban the advert from the UK. Reports from WWD reveal that the advert received 13 complaints from Britain’s Advertising Standards Agency, removing it from our screens.
It all seems a little too crazy to me. Take a look for yourselves… What do you think?
