London fashion designers have created the must have dress with a trick up its sleeve

The M-Dress created by award-winning London-based fashion designers CuteCircuit is the latest in their line of “wearable technology”. As everybody knows, the little black number is a must have item in every woman’s cupboard, so what CuteCircuit have done is combine that with another essential – the mobile phone.

Utilizing cutting edge technology the dress uses “soft circuitry” and gesture recognition software. All you have to do is insert the simcard under the label (Yes, the M-Dress is unlocked) and you answer calls by raising your left hand to your ear. You can also assign ringtones and dial from a set of pre-installed phone numbers.

Co-creator of the M-Dress and co-founder of CuteCircuit Francesca Rosella wanted to tackle the dilemma a lot of women face while trying to retrieve their phones from cluttered bags, often resulting in missed calls galore. As well as the issue of carrying a phone when using a small purse and wearing a dress with no pockets at all.

Rosella and collaborator Ryan Genz are internationally recognised for their electronic/fashion hybrids, having been featured in magazines, international design conventions and on TV channels ranging from National Geographic to National TV in Japan.

Here a few examples of their previous work:
