Pittsburg, seems to have had a strong hip-hop movement in recent years. Step up 17-year-old Mac Miller, who’s been spending the last few years making moves and establishing himself as one of PA’s premier prospects on the mic.
Hooking up with talented young film maker Ian Wolfson of Rex Arrow Films has made Mac’s videos considerably stronger than that of your average low-budget effort.
While the Pittsberg MC has a sweet flow, his rhymes are nice but lyrics are just above average (although in today’s day and age it’s more than enough to get signed, with a good stylist!). At just 17 he’s already nice on the mic as well as being voted the Pittsburgh Hip Hop Awards’ 2010, under 21 artist of the year. Let’s see what percolates in the future for this hungry and tenacious, young Pittsberg MC?

Another Pittsberg, MC of note is 22 year old Beedie. Mac’s old rhyme mate with whom together, formed the group ‘The Ill Spoken’ ended in 2009 so both could concentrate on solo careers. Check ‘Catch Em All’ – it’s not his newest track but with Pokemon references throughout, game samples, and the slick stylings of filmmaker Ian Wolfson (Rex Arrow Films) who directs two other of Beedie’s videos, it’s a winner. A nice ode to old school hip hop but with a modern twist.
