DJ PREMIER and NICK JAVAS @ Matter – O2

So yesterday (26th March 2010), DJ Premier and Nick Javas arrived in London for 1 night to perform at the incredible Matter – O2… I say incredible because that system is one of the best systems I have ever heard… So I meet Premo, Nick and Biggest Gord… at the 1Xtra studio after their interviews with Westwood and Semtex… (Shout out to Sem and Westwood). They were mad late for soundcheck so my iphone gets in full use as the Tom Tom app comes in to play so I can figure out the way over to the o2 arena from Central London.
During the trip in the Focusarrari (some of you know what thats about), the topic of Illuminati and Freemasons start coming in to convo… I wish I could share more as it was funny as hell… (pun intended)… but I just cant! So we arrive to the O2 arena and for about 15 mins we are trying to find the way IN to the damn place. We finally get to the gates for VIP and more drama starts as my car isnt registered with them. 10 mins later… we get in… drive through to the back entrance of Matter, park up… and get in for sound check just in time!

While soundcheck was rolling, Premier was testing all the sounds and drums and snares for the system to adjust to it. I heard beats that I have NEVER heard before… and man am I excited for this year if thats the kind of sounds he is looking to bring out! WOW!

Sound check almost done and Premo thought he would have a bit of fun as a tribute to his fav band who was playing next door at the o2 arena.. hahaha sorry Preem.. (Nick you are lucky I didnt tape you singing it! hahaha)

I then got a call from my boy DJ Snips who was again next door at some kind of after party with Cheryl Tweedy (Fernandes)… and of course… I told the guys I would see them later… I need to go and see my wife! They went back to the hotel for a bit and chilled out and I rolled next door.
My wife was obviously busy so I let her do her work and I hung out with Lex One and Mike Beatz (Wizard Sleeve) and the rest of the crew. Even met the legend Harry Hill… He is a lot smaller in person!

11:30 came then Snips, Keaton his friend and myself made our way back to Matter to catch the show. As we arrive in there is the guy that people only know as “The flute dude” and then some beatboxer guy on stage doing their thing… it was fun to hear… for 2 mins.. then it kinda got boring.. but either way it was a nice intro until the main event started.

12 midnight… Silence… Premo walks out… everything already set up! Its show time…

Preem does his thing, introduces Nick Javas and he does a few tracks that are just ILLL… including the “Year Round Gz” track that was previously heard on the Livefromheadquarters Blog and the DJ Premier fan Blog. Great show… although the crowd was a bit of a tough one… it worked out perfectly.

My boys Thavisen and Joseph asked if I could get a couple CDs signed and get a picture with Premo… so that ended the evening at Matter…
