Chris Ofili is the Godfather of afrocentric modern art. His multimedia multilayered works of art are currently taking residency at the Tate Britain until 16th May 2010.

Mister Ofili is mostly known for his use of extreme colour and elephant dung, however up close they reveal several layers of magazine cuttings, glittered resin and meticulous pointism on large scales to produce psychedelic afro masterpieces. His early work is characterised by his love, admiration and homage to all things afro; African art, hip-hop music, pornography and current black culture. His most recent works are large oil paintings surrounding a more darker and biblical theme. However both collections are extremely cohesive with their strong theme and are a pleasure to experience. The exhibition is finished by a short documentary, featuring Chris Ofili in his new home of Trinidad where he explains his inspiration drive and the message behind some of his work; an intimate conversation which concludes his most extensive exhibition and brings you closer to the mind of a creative genius.
